Andrea (Villa Giada) thinks it’s the first normal vintage since 2001, there will be a time to re-define normal but it is not now. What interests me is that it is a vintage where it will be easier to identify the various wines, the best sites should yield excellent wines, those less blessed will be less forthcoming. It is exactly the opposite to last year when the fresh wines were excellent and the riserve wines will be less impressive.
I have arranged to collect some Suri Bianco 2013 to arrive on the first week of December, mostly because I am really fond of ultra-fresh white and rarely fond of ultra-fresh red (it doesn’t look like a great vintage for Beaujolais Nouveau) so that’s the plan for this year – ship fresh white!
